Bayhaqi 320 — The evidence that washing the feet is obligatory

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that on a journey the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) fell behind us. We kept travelling, then he (peace and blessings be upon him) caught up with us. The time of the Asr prayer was running short for us and we were performing ablution, and we began wiping over our feet. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) called out in a loud voice: "Woe to the heels from the Fire!"
