Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Qatadah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father (Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him)) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would recite Surah al-Fatihah and one more surah in the first two rak'ahs of Zuhr. Sometimes he would also let us hear a verse or so. He (peace and blessings be upon him) would recite only Surah al-Fatihah in the last two rak'ahs, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) would not lengthen the second rak'ah as much as he lengthened the first; and he did likewise in the Asr and Fajr prayers.
