It is narrated from Wasi' bin Habban that he asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: "He (peace and blessings be upon him) would say: 'Allahu akbar' (Allah is the Greatest); whenever he went down he would say the takbir, and whenever he rose from bowing and prostration. Then (at the end) he would say: 'As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullah' (Peace and the mercy of Allah be upon you) and turn to his right, then he would say: 'As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullah' (Peace and the mercy of Allah be upon you) and turn to his left."
