أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو النَّضْرِ الْفَقِيهُ، ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ الْإِمَامُ، ثنا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، ثنا حُمَيْدٌ الطَّوِيلُ، ثنا بَكْرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمُزَنِيُّ، عَنْ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: تَخَلَّفَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَتَخَلَّفْتُ مَعَهُ، فَلَمَّا قَضَى حَاجَتَهُ قَالَ: " أَمَعَكَ مَاءٌ؟ ". فَأَتَيْتُ بِمَطْهَرَةٍ، فَغَسَلَ بِيَدَيْهِ، وَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ، ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ يَحْسِرُ عَنْ ذِرَاعَيْهِ، فَضَاقَ كُمُّ الْجُبَّةِ، فَأَخْرَجَ يَدَيْهِ مِنْ تَحْتِ الْجُبَّةِ، وَأَلْقَى الْجُبَّةَ عَلَى مَنْكِبَيْهِ فَغَسَلَ ذِرَاعَيْهِ، وَمَسَحَ بِنَاصِيَتِهِ وَعَلَى الْعِمَامَةِ وَعَلَى خُفَّيْهِ، ثُمَّ رَكِبَ. أَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ، كَمَا تَقَدَّمَ ذِكْرِي لَهُ.
Sayyiduna al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stayed behind the congregation in order to relieve himself, and I was with him (peace and blessings be upon him). When he (peace and blessings be upon him) had finished relieving himself, he said: "Do you have water with you?" I brought a vessel of water. He (peace and blessings be upon him) first washed his hands, then washed his face, then began to bring out his forearms, but the sleeve of the cloak was too tight, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) brought his hands out from under the cloak and placed the cloak over his shoulders. Then he washed his forearms and wiped over his forelock, his turban and his khuffs (leather socks), then he mounted (his riding animal).
