It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was in the mosque when a man came and prayed, then came and greeted him with salam. He returned his greeting and said: "Go back and pray, for you have not prayed." This happened three times, and then he said: "By the One who sent you with the truth, I cannot pray better than this, so teach me." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you stand for prayer, say the takbir; then recite whatever of the Qur'an you know and can recite with ease; then bow, remaining calm and still; then raise your head until you stand completely straight; then prostrate calmly; then raise your head from prostration and sit calmly; then perform the second prostration, remaining calm and still. Pray your whole prayer in this way."
