Urwah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that the Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), said: One night the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was with me in my bed, and during the night I found him missing. After a while I found that he (peace and blessings be upon him) was in prostration. His heels were pressed firmly together and he had turned the tips of his fingers towards the qiblah. I heard him making this supplication: 'A'udhu bi-ridaka min sakhatika, wa bi-'afwika min 'uqubatika, wa bika minka, uthni 'alayka, la ablughu kulla ma fika' (I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your anger, and in Your pardon from Your punishment, and I seek refuge in You from You. I praise You, and I cannot attain all that is in You). Then, when he (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the prayer, he said: "O Aishah, your devil has seized you." I said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), is there a devil with you as well? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Every human being has a devil with him." I said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), even with you? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, with me too, but I supplicated to Allah about him, and Allah made him submit to me."
