Bayhaqi 2460 — Combining two surahs in one rak'ah

It is narrated from Amr bin Murrah that he said: I heard Abu Wa'il say that a man came to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: Last night I recited all the Mufassal surahs in one rak'ah. Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Did you rattle through it quickly the way poetry is recited? I certainly know the surahs which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite (paired) in one rak'ah. Then he mentioned twenty surahs from the beginning of the Mufassal, two surahs in each rak'ah.
