أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ، أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ دَاسَةَ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ الْوَرْدِ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ يَقُولُ: قَالَ عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي يَزِيدَ: مَرَّ بِنَا أَبُو لُبَابَةَ فَاتَّبَعْنَاهُ حَتَّى دَخَلَ بَيْتَهُ، فَدَخَلْنَا عَلَيْهِ فَإِذَا رَجُلٌ رَثُّ الْبَيْتِ رَثُّ الْهَيْئَةِ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَيْسَ مِنَّا مَنْ لَمْ يَتَغَنَّ بِالْقُرْآنِ " قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ لَابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ: " يَا أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ حَسَنَ الصَّوْتِ قَالَ: يُحَسِّنُهُ مَا اسْتَطَاعَ ".
Ubaydullah bin Abi Yazid said: Abu Lubabah (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by us, so we followed him until he entered his house. We went in to him, and found him a man with a shabby house and a shabby appearance. I heard him say: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever does not recite the Qur'an melodiously is not one of us." I said to Ibn Abi Mulaykah: O Abu Muhammad! What if a man's voice is not beautiful, what should he do? He said: He should try to make it beautiful as much as he can.
