Bayhaqi 2393 — Opening the recitation in prayer with "Bismillah"

Qatadah (may Allah have mercy on him) said that Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked: How was the recitation of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? He said that he used to prolong (the sounds). Then he recited 'Bismillah al-Rahman al-Rahim' (In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful), prolonging 'Bismillah', and also prolonging 'al-Rahman' and 'al-Rahim'.
