It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man entered the mosque while the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting in a corner of the mosque. He prayed, then came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) and greeted him with salam. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Wa 'alayka al-salam (and upon you be peace). Go back and pray again, for you have not prayed." He went back and prayed, then came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) again and greeted him with salam. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Wa 'alayka al-salam (and upon you be peace). Go back and pray again, for you have not prayed." On the third or fourth time he said: O Messenger of Allah! Teach me. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you intend to pray, perform ablution well, then face the qiblah and say the takbir, then recite whatever is easy for you of the Qur'an, then bow calmly, then raise your head and stand up straight, then prostrate calmly, then raise your head from the prostration and sit calmly, then pray your whole prayer in this way."
