Book of Prayer
باب: الصبي يبلغ في صلاته فيتمها أو يصليها في أول الوقت، ثم يبلغ فلا يلزمه إعادتها لأنه فعل ما كان مأمورا بفعله مضروبا على تركه
Chapter: A boy who reaches puberty during his prayer completes it, or who prays at the start of the time and then reaches puberty need not repeat it, because he did what he was commanded to do and would have been punished for leaving

وَذَلِكَ فِيمَا أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، وَأَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو قَالَا: ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ هِشَامِ بْنِ مَلَاسٍ النُّمَيْرِيُّ، ثنا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ الْجُهَنِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي عَمِّي عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ سَبْرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " مُرُوا الصَّبِيَّ بِالصَّلَاةِ ابْنَ سَبْعٍ، وَاضْرِبُوهُ عَلَيْهَا ابْنَ عَشْرٍ " تَابَعَهُ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ.
Abd al-Malik bin al-Rabi' bin Sabrah narrates from his father, through his grandfather (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a child reaches seven years of age, command him to pray, and when he reaches ten, beat him for not praying."
