أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زِيَادٍ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ، (ح) وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَ: قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: " كُنْتُ مَعَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ بِطَرِيقِ مَكَّةَ فَلَمَّا خَشِيتُ الصُّبْحَ نَزَلَتُ فَأَوْتَرْتُ " فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ: أَلَيْسَ لَكَ فِي رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ؟ قُلْتُ: بَلَى قَالَ: " فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُوتِرُ عَلَى الْبَعِيرِ " رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ، وَرَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ يَحْيَى.
It is narrated from Sa'id bin Yasar (may Allah have mercy on him) that he said: I was (travelling) with Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) on the road to Makkah. When I feared that dawn would come, I dismounted and began to pray the witr prayer. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said to me: Do you not have in the life of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) "an excellent example" [Surah al-Ahzab: 21]? I said: Why not! Certainly I have. He said: the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray witr on a camel.
