Sayyiduna Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) says that a man of the Ansar freed six slaves at the time of his death, and he had no other wealth besides them. When the news reached the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) spoke severely about him. Then he called for the slaves and divided them into three groups, then drew lots between them, freed two and kept four in slavery.
