It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that one night we kept waiting for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for the Isha prayer. When about a third of the night had passed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came out to us and said: "You are waiting for a prayer that no follower of any religion besides you is waiting for. If I did not consider it burdensome for my Ummah, I would lead them in prayer at this hour." Then he ordered the mu'adhdhin, who called the iqamah, and then he (peace and blessings be upon him) led the prayer.
