أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ بْنُ عَبْدَانَ، أنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ مَحْمَوَيْهِ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ، ثنا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، ثنا آدَمُ، ثنا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ جُبَيْرٍ، أَنَّهُ قَدِمَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَأَمَرَ لَهُ بِوَضُوءٍ، فَقَالَ: " تَوَضَّأْ يَا أَبَا جُبَيْرٍ ". فَبَدَأَ أَبُو جُبَيْرٍ بِفِيهِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَا تَبْتَدِئْ بِفِيكِ يَا أَبَا جُبَيْرٍ، فَإِنَّ الْكَافِرَ يَبْتَدِئُ بِفِيهِ ". ثُمَّ دَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِوَضُوءٍ، فَغَسَلَ كَفَّيْهِ حَتَّى أَنْقَاهُمَا، ثُمَّ تَمَضْمَضَ وَاسْتَنْشَقَ ثَلَاثًا، وَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا، وَغَسَلَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى إِلَى الْمِرْفَقِ ثَلَاثًا، وَالْيُسْرَى ثَلَاثًا، وَمَسَحَ رَأْسَهُ وَغَسَلَ رِجْلَيْهِ ".
Abd al-Rahman bin Jubayr bin Nufayr narrates from his father Jubayr that he came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered water to be brought for him and said: "Abu Jubayr! Perform ablution." He began with his mouth, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Abu Jubayr! Do not begin with your mouth, for the disbeliever begins with his mouth." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called for water and washed his palms until he had cleaned them, then rinsed his mouth and sniffed water into his nose three times, washed his face three times, washed his right hand up to and including the elbow three times, washed his left arm three times as well, wiped his head, and then washed his feet.
