Bayhaqi 209 — Washing the hands repeatedly

Salim bin Abdullah narrates from his father that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any of you wakes up from sleep, let him not put his hand into the vessel, but rather wash it three times, for he does not know where his hand spent the night, or where his hand was roaming." A man said to Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): Even if it is a cistern? Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) threw a pebble at him and said: I am telling you a hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and you are saying: Even if it is a cistern!
Ali bin Umar says that its chain is hasan (good). The Shaykh says that Jabir bin Isma'il is together with Ibn Lahi'ah in its chain.
