أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، أنبأ أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ الْأَعْرَابِيِّ، ثنا ⦗٤٠⦘ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الزَّعْفَرَانِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ، ثنا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ، ح، وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ فُورَكٍ، أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ثنا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ - وَهُوَ ابْنُ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ -، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِي اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: قِيلَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَنُنْزِي الْحِمَارَ عَلَى الْفَرَسِ؟ قَالَ: " إِنَّمَا يَعْمَلُ ذَلِكَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ "، هَذَا لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ أَبِي دَاوُدَ.
Ali bin Alqamah narrates from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that it was said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Shall we let a donkey mate with a mare?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Only those who do not know do that."
(b) In the narration of Ibn al-Sabbah it is: A mule, male or female, was given to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as a gift. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, what is this?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A mule, male or female. When a donkey is let mate with a mare, this is born from it." I said: "Shall we let so-and-so (a donkey) mate with so-and-so (a mare)?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Only those people who do not know do that."
(b) In the narration of Ibn al-Sabbah it is: A mule, male or female, was given to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as a gift. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, what is this?"
