Abu Sufyan narrates from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade ruqyah, and the family of Amr bin Hazm used to perform ruqyah for scorpion stings. They came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (and said): "You (peace and blessings be upon him) have forbidden ruqyah, whereas we used to perform ruqyah for scorpion stings." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Recite it before me." They recited (those words) to him (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I see no harm in it; whoever among you is able to benefit his brother, let him (benefit him)."
