Bayhaqi 19552 — Reports on the permissibility of bloodletting

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says that a group came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "A companion of ours is ill; shall we cauterize him?" The narrator says: He remained silent for a while, then said: "If you wish, cauterize him with iron or with stone." (b) In the narration of Abu Ishaq it says: "Cauterize him with stone."
