Bayhaqi 19230 — Feeding the distressed poor, the one who does not beg

Ibn Abi Najih narrates from Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) regarding this saying of Allah Almighty, "So eat of them and feed the distressed poor" [Surah al-Hajj: 28]: Al-ba'is is "the one who, when he asks, asks with his hand"; al-qani' is "the one among your neighbours who covets the meat of your sacrifice"; and al-mu'tarr is "the one who comes to you himself but does not put his need before you."
