أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْأَرْدَسْتَانِيُّ، أنبأ أَبُو نَصْرٍ الْعِرَاقِيُّ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، ثنا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ: إِذَا رَمَى أَحَدُكُمْ صَيْدًا فَتَرَدَّى مِنْ جَبَلٍ فَمَاتَ فَلَا تَأْكُلُوا فَإِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ يَكُونَ التَّرَدِّي قَتَلَهُ أَوْ وَقَعَ فِي مَاءٍ، فَمَاتَ فَلَا تَأْكُلْهُ فَإِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ يَكُونَ الْمَاءُ قَتَلَهُ.
Masruq (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him): When you shoot game and it falls from a mountain and dies, do not eat it, for it may have died from falling off the mountain; and if it falls into water and dies, do not eat it either, for it is possible that it was killed by the water.
