أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو، ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، أنبأ الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، أنبأ الشَّافِعِيُّ، أنبأ سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، فَذَكَرَهُ بِإِسْنَادِهِ مُخْتَصَرًا فِي الْجِزْيَةِ. قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ: حَدِيثُ بَجَالَةَ مُتَّصِلٌ ثَابِتٌ، وَإِنَّهُ أَدْرَكَ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، وَكَانَ رَجُلًا فِي زَمَانِهِ كَاتِبًا لِعُمَّالِهِ، وَحَدِيثُ نَصْرِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُتَّصِلٌ وَبِهِ نَأْخُذُ ⦗٣١٩⦘ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ مِنْ حَدِيثِ الْحِجَازِ حَدِيثَانِ مُنْقَطِعَانِ بِأَخْذِ الْجِزْيَةِ مِنَ الْمَجُوسِ.
Imam al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned this from Sufyan bin Uyaynah with his chain, in abridged form, regarding the jizyah.
Imam al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) says: The hadith of Bajalah is connected (muttasil) and established, for he met Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and in his time was a scribe for his governors. The hadith of Nasr bin Asim from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is connected, and we act upon it. Two broken (munqati') hadiths have also been narrated from the people of the Hijaz about taking the jizyah from the Magians.
