Abdullah bin Buraydah narrates from his father (may Allah be pleased with him) that he mentioned (the story of) Khaybar and Marhab's coming out reciting war verses, and that the words of Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) were of the same meaning, except that he reported the saying of Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) in other words, that he said: "I will kill you in great measure."
The narrator said: They exchanged two blows, and Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) struck him first with the sword, which split the stone (helmet), the mail cap and his head and reached his molars, and he took the city.
