أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ الْقَاضِي قَالَا: ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ، أنبأ ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، عَنْ حُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ ضُمَيْرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ضُمَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ بِأُمِّ ضُمَيْرَةَ وَهِيَ تَبْكِي فَقَالَ: " مَا يُبْكِيكِ؟ أَجَائِعَةٌ أَنْتِ أَمْ عَارِيَةٌ أَنْتِ؟ " فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فُرِّقَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ ابْنِي، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَا يُفَرَّقُ بَيْنَ وَالِدَةٍ وَوَلَدِهَا ". ثُمَّ أَرْسَلَ إِلَى الَّذِي عِنْدَهُ ضُمَيْرَةُ، فَدَعَاهُ فَابْتَاعَهُ مِنْهُ بِبَكْرَةٍ.
Husayn bin Abdullah bin Dumayrah narrates from his father, from his grandfather (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by the mother of Dumayrah while she was weeping. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What makes you weep? Are you hungry, or are you without clothing?" She said: O Messenger of Allah! I have been separated from my son. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A mother and her child are not to be separated." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) sent for the man who had Dumayrah, called him, and bought him from him for a young she-camel.
