Bayhaqi 18052 — Killing polytheists after capture by striking

Ja'far (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father, and he from Ali bin Husayn (may Allah have mercy on him), (that he said): By Allah! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not pass needles over (anyone's) eyes; he only cut off hands and feet.
The Shaykh says: The narrations of Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) and Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) are authentic and established, and in them it is stated that he (peace and blessings be upon him) passed needles over their eyes, so what is gained by someone's rejection? The better course is to take it as abrogated.
