Ibn Umar and Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade "making nabidh in gourd, pitch-coated and hollowed tree-root vessels."
And Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Nabidh used to be made for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in a water-skin, and when they could not find a water-skin for him, it was made for him in a stone pot. Someone among the people asked Abu al-Zubayr, while I was listening: Of carved stone (biram)? He said: Of carved stone.
