أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أَنْبَأَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ الْفَاكِهِيُّ، ثَنَا أَبُو يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي مَسَرَّةَ، ثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمُقْرِيُّ، ثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَقِيلٍ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ، وَكَانَ قَدْ أَدْرَكَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَذَهَبَتْ بِهِ أُمُّهُ زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ حُمَيْدٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ بَايِعْهُ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " هُوَ صَغِيرٌ "، وَمَسَحَ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ وَدَعَا لَهُ، وَكَانَ يُضَحِّي بِالشَّاةِ الْوَاحِدَةِ عَنْ جَمِيعِ أَهْلِهِ. رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الْمُقْرِيِّ.
Abdullah bin Hisham (may Allah be pleased with him) said that his mother, Zaynab bint Humayd (may Allah be pleased with her), took him to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Take his pledge of allegiance." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is young." He (peace and blessings be upon him) passed his hand over his head and supplicated for him. And he would always offer one sacrifice on behalf of his entire household.
