وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ، ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ، ثنا بَحْرٌ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، أَنَّ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَضَى بِالْعَقْلِ فِي قَتْلِ الْخَطَأِ فِي ثَلَاثِ سِنِينَ وَعَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، أَنَّ مِنَ السُّنَّةِ أَنْ تُنَجَّمَ الدِّيَةُ فِي ثَلَاثِ سِنِينَ.
Yazid bin Abi Habib says that Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) fixed three years for the blood money in unintentional killing; and Yahya bin Sa'id says that the Sunnah is that respite of three years be given for the blood money.
