Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) ruled a diyah (blood money) of one camel for a molar, for the collarbone and for a rib.
Imam al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said: For a molar there are five camels, because the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is: "For a tooth there are five camels," and a molar is also a tooth. As for the collarbone and the rib, my position is the same as that of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), because no Companion opposed him in it, and I too find no reason to differ. He also said: What is mentioned from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) about one camel for a molar is perhaps because it was a discretionary ruling (hukumah), there being no fixed diyah for it.
