أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، سَمِعْتُ الْعَبَّاسَ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ يَحْيَى بْنَ مَعِينٍ، يَقُولُ: يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ أَوْسٍ، وَعُقْبَةُ بْنُ أَوْسٍ وَاحِدٌ قَالَ: وَسُئِلَ يَحْيَى عَنْ حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو هَذَا، فَقَالَ لَهُ الرَّجُلُ: إِنَّ سُفْيَانَ يَقُولُ: عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، فَقَالَ يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ: عَلِيُّ بْنُ زَيْدٍ لَيْسَ بِشَيْءٍ، وَالْحَدِيثُ حَدِيثُ خَالِدٍ، وَإِنَّمَا هُوَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ، رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا.
Yahya bin Ma'in (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Ya'qub bin Aws and Uqbah bin Aws are one and the same.
Yahya bin Ma'in (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked about the hadith of Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) (16117), and a man said: Sufyan narrates it from Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both). Yahya (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Ali bin Zayd is nothing (as a narrator), and the hadith that is Khalid's is narrated from Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both).
