Sayyidah Umm Qays bint Mihsan (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with a son of mine, and I had pressed his throat because of udhrah (a throat illness). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why do you treat udhrah by pressing (the throat) like this? Use Indian aloeswood ('ud hindi), for in it is a cure for seven ailments: use it as sa'ut (drops in the nose) for udhrah, and as ladud (drops in the side of the mouth) for pleurisy (dhat al-janb)."
Imam Bukhari recorded it in the Sahih from Ali bin Abdullah and others, and Imam Muslim from Yahya bin Yahya and others, all of them from Sufyan bin Uyaynah. Yunus bin Yazid narrated it from Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri and added in it: meaning kust, and some said qust (both are words for costus).
