أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو، نا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ الْأَصَمُّ، أنا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، أنا الشَّافِعِيُّ، أنا أَنَسُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ، فَذَكَرَهُ قَالَ الرَّبِيعُ: فَقُلْتُ لِلشَّافِعِيِّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ أَسَمِعَ ابْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ فَقَالَ: نَعَمْ وَحَفِظَ عَنْهُ وَكَانَ يَوْمَ تُوُفِّيَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ابْنَ تِسْعِ سِنِينَ، قَالَ الشَّيْخُ: هُوَ كَمَا قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ إِلَّا أَنَّ ابْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ إِنَّمَا أَخَذَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
Anas bin Iyad informed us, and he mentioned the hadith in the same way.
Al-Rabi' (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I said to Imam al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him): Did Ibn al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) hear from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? He said: Yes, and he memorised from him, and on the day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away he was a boy of nine years.
Imam al-Bayhaqi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: It is as Imam al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said, except that Ibn al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) took this hadith from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
