Anas bin Sirin says: I asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about his wife whom he had divorced. He said: I divorced her while she was menstruating, and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) informed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Order him to take her back. When she becomes pure, let him divorce her in the state of purity." He said: So I took her back and then divorced her in the state of purity. I said: Was the divorce that was given in the state of menstruation counted? He said: Why would I not count it, even if I had been helpless and acted foolishly?
