Bayhaqi 14853 — The circumstance in which the ransom is lawful

Abdullah bin Shihab al-Khawlani (may Allah have mercy on him) said that a woman's husband divorced her in exchange for one thousand dirhams. The matter was brought to Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), and he said: Your husband has sold you a divorce as a sale. And Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) upheld it.
