Asim bin Laqit bin Sabirah narrates from his father (Sayyiduna Laqit bin Sabirah (may Allah be pleased with him)): I was in the delegation of Banu al-Muntafiq. We came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) but could not meet him (peace and blessings be upon him), and we met Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her). Dates were brought to us on a platter, and she ordered khazirah to be prepared for us (khazirah is a dish made by mixing minced meat and flour). The food was prepared and we ate. Meanwhile the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived and asked: "Have you eaten something? Or has something been ordered to be made for you?" We said: Yes. Meanwhile the shepherd also came with the goats, and suddenly a goat gave birth. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "O shepherd! What has it delivered?" He said: A kid. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Slaughter a goat in its place." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) turned towards us and said: "Do not think, and do not say, that we slaughtered it for your sake. In fact, we have a hundred goats, and we do not want their number to exceed a hundred, so whenever a goat gives birth, we slaughter a goat in its place." I said: O Messenger of Allah! My wife has a foul tongue. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Divorce her." I said: I have children from her, and I also love her. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Admonish her; if there is any good in her, she will accept it. And do not beat your wife as you would beat a slave girl." I said: O Messenger of Allah! Tell me about ablution (wudu). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Perform ablution thoroughly, pass (water) between the fingers, and be thorough in sniffing water into the nose, unless you are fasting."
