Abu al-Bakhtari (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) prepared food and invited a group of the Companions. A beggar came, and one man wanted to give him some food, so Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Put the food down; you were invited to eat." The man was embarrassed. When he had finished eating, Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Perhaps what I said weighed heavily on you?" He said: "Yes, by Allah!" Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "What need do you have that the reward should be mine and the burden yours?"
