Bayhaqi 14560 — The invited person who sees erected images of living

Abu Abd al-Rahman Safinah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: A man was a guest of Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), and he prepared food for the guest. Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "Invite the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) so that he may eat with us." So Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) invited the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) stood at the threshold of the house with his hands placed on it; then, seeing a curtain hung in one corner of the house, he (peace and blessings be upon him) turned back. Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said to Ali: "See why he (peace and blessings be upon him) turned back." Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I followed him and asked: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), what made you turn back?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is not fitting for me, or for any prophet, to enter an adorned house."
