أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَا: ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ الْأَصَمُّ، أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ، أنبأ ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: " لَا يَصْلُحُ لِلرَّجُلِ أَنْ يَقَعَ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ حَتَّى يُقَدِّمَ إِلَيْهَا شَيْئًا مِنْ مَالِهِ مَا رَضِيَتْ بِهِ مِنْ كِسْوَةٍ وَعَطَاءٍ ".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: It is not proper for a man to consummate the marriage with a woman without giving her something and without her consent; rather he should please her by giving her clothing or a gift.
