وَبِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ الرَّزَّادِ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ قَالَ: سَأَلْنَا ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ عَنِ الْعَزْلِ، فَقَالَ: " اذْهَبُوا فَسَلُوا النَّاسَ ثُمَّ ائْتُونِي "، فَأَخْبِرُونِي فَسَأَلُوا فَأَخْبَرُوهُ فَتَلَا هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ: {وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ مِنْ سُلَالَةٍ مِنْ طِينٍ ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَاهُ} [المؤمنون: ١٣]، حَتَّى فَرَغَ مِنَ الْآيَةِ ثُمَّ قَالَ: " كَيْفَ تَكُونُ مِنَ الْمَوْؤُدَةِ حَتَّى تَمُرَّ عَلَى هَذَا الْخَلْقِ ".
Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) said: We asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) about 'azl, and he said: "Go and ask the people, and then tell me too." They asked and informed him, and he recited this verse: "And We certainly created man from an extract of clay" [Surah al-Mu'minun: 12], until he finished the verse. Then he said: "How can it be burying alive until it has passed through these stages of creation?"
