أَخْبَرَنَاهُ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أنبأ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، ثنا آدَمُ، ثنا وَرْقَاءُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {وَلَا تَنْكِحُوا ⦗٢٧٨⦘ الْمُشْرِكَاتِ، حَتَّى يُؤْمِنَّ} [البقرة: ٢٢١] " يَعْنِي نِسَاءَ أَهْلِ مَكَّةَ الْمُشْرِكَاتِ، ثُمَّ أَحَلَّ لَهُمْ نِسَاءَ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ ".
Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him), concerning this saying of Allah Almighty, "And do not marry polytheist women until they believe" [Surah al-Baqarah: 221], (said): Meaning the polytheist women of the people of Makkah; then the women of the People of the Book were made lawful.
