(a) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Imarah (may Allah be pleased with him), Abu Ubayd recorded the name with a kasrah, that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed in the house of Imarah towards both qiblahs. He asked: O Messenger of Allah, may I wipe over leather socks? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." He asked: For one day? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." He asked again: Two days? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Two days." He said: O Messenger of Allah, three days? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes," until he counted up to seven. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, whatever seems fit to you."
(b) Imam Abu Dawud (may Allah have mercy on him) said: There is disagreement about its chain, and this hadith is not strong. (c) Ali bin Umar said: This chain is not established; there is great disagreement in it concerning the narrator Yahya bin Ayyub. (d) Abd al-Rahman, Muhammad bin Yazid and Ayyub bin Qatan are all majhul (unknown) narrators.
