Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) visited Abu al-Raddad in his illness, and he said: "The best of them and the most diligent of them in joining ties of kinship, as far as I know, is Abu Muhammad (Abd al-Rahman)." So Abd al-Rahman said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says: "I am Allah and I am al-Rahman (the Most Merciful). I created al-rahim (the ties of kinship) and derived its name from My name. Whoever joins it, I will join him, and whoever cuts it off, I will cut him off."
