أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ، أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ دَاسَةَ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ، ثنا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ، ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَدِيِّ بْنِ الْخِيَارِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي رَجُلَانِ، أَنَّهُمَا أَتَيَا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ، وَهُوَ يَقْسِمُ الصَّدَقَةَ، فَسَأَلَاهُ مِنْهَا، فَرَفَعَ فِينَا الْبَصَرَ وَخَفَضَهُ، فَرَآنَا جَلْدَيْنِ، فَقَالَ: " إِنْ شِئْتُمَا أَعْطَيْتُكُمَا، وَلَا حَظَّ فِيهَا لِغَنِيٍّ، وَلَا لِقَوِيٍّ مُكْتَسِبٍ ".
It is narrated from Ubaydullah bin Adi bin al-Khiyar (may Allah have mercy on him) that two men informed him that they both came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) during the Farewell Hajj while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was distributing sadaqah, and they both asked him (peace and blessings be upon him) for sadaqah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his gaze towards us and lowered it; he (peace and blessings be upon him) saw that we were healthy and said: "If you wish, I will give to you, but there is no share in it for a rich person or for one who has the strength to earn."
