وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ، ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَعْشَرٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: وَلِيَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فَقَسَمَ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ بِالسَّوِيَّةِ، فَقِيلَ لِأَبِي بَكْرٍ: يَا خَلِيفَةَ رَسُولِ اللهِ لَوْ فَضَّلْتَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَالْأَنْصَارَ، فَقَالَ: " أَشْتَرِي مِنْهُمْ شِرًى، فَأَمَّا هَذَا الْمَعَاشُ فَالْأُسْوَةُ فِيهِ خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْأَثَرَةِ ".
Zayd bin Aslam narrated from his father that Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) took charge, and he distributed among the people equally. It was said to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him): O Khalifah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), what if you gave preference to the Muhajirun and the Ansar? Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I know their merit; as for this livelihood, equality in it is better than preference.
