Sayyiduna Ya'la bin Munyah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) announced a military expedition. I was an old man and had no servant, so I looked for a hired man and thought I would pay him a wage. I found a man. When the time to set out for the expedition approached, he came to me and said: "I do not know what the shares will be or how much I will get, so fix something for me that I will receive whether there is a share or not." So I fixed three dinars for him. When the spoils came, I intended to give him his share, (but) I remembered the dinars. I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and mentioned it to him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I find nothing for him in this expedition of his, in this world (and the narrator thinks he also said the word 'Hereafter') and in the Hereafter, except the dinars that he fixed."
