(a) Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) says that a woman of the Arabs was mentioned to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he narrated the long hadith, in which it is (stated) that on that day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) came and sat in the shaded hall (saqifah) of Banu Sa'idah. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Sahl, give us water to drink." Sahl says: We brought out this cup for him and gave him water to drink in it.
(b) Abu Hazim says: Sahl brought this cup out to us, and we drank water from it. Then Umar bin Abd al-Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him) asked him for this cup, and he gave it to him.
(c) It is narrated from Muhammad bin Abi Isma'il (may Allah have mercy on him): I went to Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) and saw a wooden cup in his house, and he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to drink from it and perform ablution from it.
