أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ، أنا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: " الْجَدُّ أَبٌ "، وَقَالَ: " لَوْ عَلِمَتِ الْجِنُّ أَنَّ فِيَ النَّاسِ جُدُودًا مَا قَالُوا: {تَعَالَى جَدُّ رَبِّنَا} [الجن: ٣] " وَقَرَأَ سُفْيَانُ {يَا بَنِي آدَمَ} [الأعراف: ٢٦] {وَاتَّبَعْتُ مِلَّةَ آبَائِي} [يوسف: ٣٨].
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the grandfather is like the father, and he said: If the jinn had known that there are grandfathers among people, they would not have said: "Exalted is the majesty of our Lord" [Surah al-Jinn: 3]. And Sufyan recited: "O children of Adam" [Surah al-A'raf: 26] and "And I have followed the religion of my fathers" [Surah Yusuf: 38].
