وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ، أنا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى، أنا هُشَيْمٌ، عَنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، أَنَّ زَيْدَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ وَعَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا " كَانَا يُوَرِّثَانِ ثَلَاثَ جَدَّاتٍ ثِنْتَيْنِ مِنْ قِبَلِ الْأَبِ وَوَاحِدَةً مِنْ قِبَلِ الْأُمِّ ".
It is reported from al-Sha'bi that Sayyiduna Ali and Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to make three grandmothers heirs: two from the father's side and one from the mother's side.
