Abu Umamah al-Taymi says: I used to rent out animals for Hajj, and people would say: You have no Hajj. I met Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and said: O Abu Abdur-Rahman, I rent out animals, and people say that I have no Hajj. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Did you not enter ihram, recite the talbiyah, perform tawaf of the House, depart from Arafat and stone the Jimar? Abu Umamah says: I replied: Of course, I have done all of these. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Your Hajj is valid. (Then he said:) A man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked the same as you have asked; he (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent and gave no answer, until this verse was revealed: "There is no sin upon you in seeking the bounty of your Lord." [Surah al-Baqarah: 198]
Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) called that man and recited this verse to him, then said: "Your Hajj is valid."
