أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَخْتَوَيْهِ الْعَدْلُ، ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْحَرْبِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ أَيْمَنَ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ وَعِنْدَهَا جَارِيَةٌ لَهَا عَلَيْهَا دِرْعُ قُطْنٍ ثَمَنُهُ خَمْسَةُ دَرَاهِمَ، قَالَتْ: " ارْفَعْ بَصَرَكَ إِلَى جَارِيَتِي، انْظُرْ إِلَيْهَا؛ فَإِنَّهَا تُزْهَى عَلَى أَنْ تَلْبَسَهُ فِي الْبَيْتِ، وَقَدْ كَانَ لِي مِنْهُنَّ دِرْعٌ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا كَانَتِ امْرَأَةٌ تُقَيَّنُ بِالْمَدِينَةِ إِلَّا أَرْسَلَتْ إِلِيَّ تَسْتَعِيرُهُ " رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ أَبِي نُعَيْمٍ.
Abd al-Wahid bin Ayman narrates from his father that he said: I went to Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her). With her was a slave-girl wearing a cotton shift worth five dirhams. Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "Look at this slave-girl of mine; she has no interest in wearing such clothes at home, yet in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) I had a shift like this in Madinah, and every woman who was being adorned as a bride would borrow this shift from me."
